If only my brain had a print button...

Well, it has been awhile. What with the holidays, family visits, and my new position on the board of my multiple support group, I have been so busy that I just write my blog posts in my head. I had a really great one awhile back that I wrote while nursing at about two in the morning. If only my brain had a print button.

So, I have been struggling more than ever with sleep issues but don't feel like I can "do" anything about it because my poor boys have been sick off and on for well over a month. It is becoming ridiculous and I am about to go crazy. Just when I get one good day or night of sleep (well, usually one of them does, but I don't) they get sick again.

Ronan finally gives in after fighting sleep for over an hour

We've decided to take Kyan out of preschool, for mostly financial reasons, but I do think maybe they'll all stay healthier with him being home. My sanity is in question, but we'll work with that.

My mom just left after spending just over three weeks with us. My dad got to come for a week, too. It was so great to have them here and see them spending time with the boys. It's hard to have them so far away, especially now that I have children. My plan is that they will move to Portland when my Dad retires...they don't quite see things my way yet, but they will :)

Grandma and Ronan

I think we ran my mom a bit ragged and she barely left the house in her three weeks here, but she definitely got to know the boys really well!

she's going to kill me for putting this on here :)
I have been working hard as one half of New Mom Support Services for my multiples club. It is very rewarding, but a lot of work. I am enjoying it because it gives me something to do that is related to mothering, but actually involves talking to adults! It is also a beautiful thing to see how many people out there are willing to help others in need. Being a twin mama is not an easy ride and no one understands what it's really like unless they've done it. So, I link moms with older twins up with moms who are pregnant with or have newborn twins. The older moms mentor the newer moms and support them through the difficult transition. I also have added bed rest support to our services and I link moms who have been through bed rest and all of its craziness with moms who are dealing with bed rest now. As someone who almost went crazy lying around on the couch cooking my babies, it feels good to help others who are in the same place. I must admit I end up doing a lot of the support on this end just because I can't help but share and relate with the moms who e-mail me.

Yesterday I met Emma and Zoe. They are identical twin girls who are one month old today. I met their mom by supporting her through her bed rest and became great friends with her. They made it all the way to 37 weeks and 4 days (I think that's right). Kyan thinks that all of my friends have twins and has begun to get confused by mamas who only have one baby. Pretty funny :)

As for me, I feel pretty together as long as I get something resembling sleep. When I don't get sleep I feel like I'm going to lose my mind and I'm not the most patient mama.

The twins are getting MUCH more active. They should be crawling any day here based on the signs.

It is a lot of fun to watch them play, but I am also seeing my easy breezy days fly out the window.

believe it or not they fight over toys already!

No longer can I sit and type a blog or answer e-mails while they coo happily at my feet. Plus Kyan will be home all the time now starting next week, so things are about to get crazy!

Check out Papa in the background...we wore him out, too!

I am more than ready for the renewing days of Spring. Kyan has been imagining blooming flowers outside because I told him that would be a sign that Spring is coming. He can't wait for the Farmer's Market to open again and neither can I! Portland winters do seem awfully long, but I suppose that helps us to appreciate the coming of Spring even more.

Hopefully, I will find more time to write, but until then...
